The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Blu-ray Giveaway (US/CA)

I'm a big fan of the recent Tolkien films, beginning with Fellowship of the Ring in 2001. The latest Hobbit movies have diverted quite a bit from my previous exposure to the story, both in print and in animated form.  However, they are very much in the same vein as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, with Peter Jackson's tone of directing, the amazing cinematography of New Zealand, the cutting-edge special effects, and the epic soundtrack from composer Howard Shore. Like some of you, I haven't seen the third Hobbit film yet, but you can enter to win a copy for yourself!  Check out the details below and enter to win!

From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies," the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world.

Special Features on the Blu-Ray combo pack include:

  • New Zealand: Home of Middle-earth Part 3
  • Recruiting the Five Armies
  • Completing Middle-earth: A Six-Part Saga
  • Completing Middle-earth: A Seventeen-Year Journey
  • The Last Goodbye: Behind the Scenes
  • Music Video
  • Trailers #TheHobbit

  1. My husband and I haven't seen this last one yet! :-) Too hard to get a babysitter.... But I love the books, and although the movies don't quite measure up, they're still so fun to watch.

    1. Roseanne: I know-- same with us. It's one thing to FIND a babysitter, but then it's probably best if we actually paid them! ;) And a night out for hours and hours can get pretty expensive per hour.

And our boys are older at age (almost) 10 and (almost )15, so getting a "sitter" seems kinda weird. So we usually opt to wait until my parents or in-laws are visiting so we can go out. So dates are few and far between.

At the same time, I do enjoy watching movies at home on our laptop, which has a decent size screen and HD resolution. We can watch in bed, we don't have to deal with noisy theater goers, and can pause it at any time. And I'm a total geek in that I love to put up the subtitles, which you can't do in the theater either. So even though it's not an "event", staying home has its advantages, too.

Thanks for stopping by-- good luck on the contest!

I grew up with my Mom reading us The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. While the movies aren't quite as good as the stories they are still some of my favorites.

  4. I have seen the Lord of the the Rings films (many times - Aragon, oh yes) and the first 2 Hobbit ones, plus read the books many times

  5. I haven't seen this one before. The Hobbit was one of the first 'real' books I read as a child. It was nice to see the Tolkien movies done so well.
